You
can't simply buy a car and start driving - you
have to have gas, registration, a license, and
insurance. Welding is the same way . . . you need
wire, a nozzle, eye protection, gas, etc., before
you can hit the road. HTP Accessory Kits are
designed to get you started right and keep you
welding. Each varies according to the specific
user's needs and contains extra consumable parts
such as tips and nozzles. Don't be caught with
your welder down! Choose the accessory kit for
the work you plan on doing.

Aluminum Welding Kit #40011
One of the benefits of MIG welding is
the flexibility to weld a wide range of metals.
Steel, stainless steel, cast iron and brazing are
relatively simple, requiring no more attention
than changing the shielding gas.
Aluminum is an entirely
different animal. Due to its softness and heat
conductivity characteristics, extra care and
special accessories must be used to ensure good
results.
Aluminum is much softer than
steel. It will "bird's nest" using a
standard steel liner. Therefore, a low-friction
teflon liner is necessary to keep the soft
aluminum wire from bird's nesting. Aluminum
requires a higher flow rate of Argon gas (roughly
30 - 50 CFM). The cylindrical nozzle, with its
larger opening, ensures adequate dispersion of
this gas.
Unlike steel, aluminum will not
tolerate paint, oxidation, grease or any other
contaminants when being welded. The importance of
proper surface preparation cannot be over
stressed. First, all surfaces to be welded should
be vigorously brushed with our Stainless Wire
Brush (a plain steel brush will simply further
contaminate the aluminum).
This may seem like a lot of
work, but attention to these details can help
ensure that you save time, by getting it right
the first time. More importantly, it can save you
from ruining that irreplaceable part! Our
Aluminum Welding Kit gives you everything you
need to achieve good results. It includes:

HTP
Gas Regulator #12020
Replaces that worn out, beat-up gas
regulator with a new flow gauge regulator from
HTP. These regulators have two gauges so you know
how much gas is left in the tank and what you are
flowing to the welder. They have the standard
CGA-580 male fitting so they will fit on any
Argon/Co2 or Argon gas bottle.
