Spot Welders

HTP VersaSpot 7000

HTP has been supplying modern collision repair facilities with state-of-the-art MIG Welders since 1982. And if there is one thing we’ve learned over the years, it’s that we can have several tools which all perform basically the same job — with each tool being just a little more specialized and doing its specific job a bit quicker and easier. For example, we have sockets, open end wrenches, box end wrenches and combination wrenches. They all loosen or tighten nuts and bolts, but each has a specific application in which it works better.

Which brings us to the HTP Versa Spot 7000 STRSW welder. A MIG Welder is a tool we all rely on to make quality welds, and that has served the modern body shop well. With the introduction of the Versa Spot 7000, however, the time has come to introduce an exciting new welder to the contemporary collision repair facility.

STRSW or Squeeze Type Resistance Spot Welding has been around for well over 50 years. Now, with the Versa Spot 7000 STRSW, an affordable, practical spot welder is within the reach of practically every one of today’s collision repair facilities.

The Versa Spot 7000 is a fully digital, microprocessor-controlled resistance welder. All you do is set the thickness of the panels you’re welding. That’s it. The machine then selects the welding current and the number of welding cycles necessary to achieve optimum results! This unique tool allows you to weld quarter panels, roofs, and core supports both quicker and with less finishing time than a MIG Welder.

At the center of the Versa Spot 7000 is a heart of copper. Just like our MIG Welders, the Versa Spot 7000 features a solid copper-wound transformer.

This new spot welder’s 7,000 amps of power means it can weld panels up to 12 ga thick (.100”). There’s more, lots more . . . the Versa Spot’s “Pulse Welding” feature produces better results when welding through primer or galvanized panels. Our state-of-the-art, spot welding gun produces 265 lbs of clamping force. The air cooled cables and spot welding gun mean you can work fast — make 165 welds/hr on 18 ga panels or 215 welds/hr on 22 ga panels in the continuous mode at 7,000 amps. Optional water cooling increases the duty cycle even further – make 1000 welds/hr on 22 ga panels or 500 welds/hr on 16 ga panels.

The water cooling option offers fully water cooled welding cables and spot welding arms. A water cooler attaches to the cart and recirculates coolant through the spot welding cables and spot welding arms. With eight optional air cooled spot welding arms and three water cooled spot welding arms available, your Versa Spot 7000 can access many areas other welders can’t get to.

The Versa Spot 7000 is just that — Versatile! Perform double-sided spot welds with the pneumatic spot welding gun. Or, utilizing the Spotter Accessory Kit, perform single-sided spot welding, stud welding, washer welding, and star welding for dent pulling, trim rivet welding, bolt welding, and shrinking.

If you’re looking for a high-quality, easy-to-use, affordable STRSW system for your business, then look no further. The HTP Versa Spot 7000 brings STRSW technology and productivity into your shop today!

VersaSpot 7000 Control Panel

No more knobs and switches! The Versa Spot 7000 has a fully digital control panel. All you do is set the type of tool and the thickness of the panel, and the machine sets the optimum current and number of cycles to optimize the spot weld.

VersaSpot 7000 Control Panel

  1. Spot Welder Activated - lights up when the machine is performing a spot weld
  2. Thermal Switch Indicator - lights up when the duty cycle has been exceeded
  3. Low Voltage Indicator - lights up when there is an excessive voltage drop
  4. Main Power Indicator - indicates main power is on and voltage is correct
  5. High Voltage Indicator - indicates excessive voltage
  6. Tool Selection Switch - depress this switch to select between the following tools:
    1. Pneumatic Clamp in continuous welding
    2. Pneumatic Clamp in pulse wleding for burning through primer and galvanized panels
    3. Single Sided Spot welding and accessory kit
  7. Accessory Selector Switch - this switch is only activated when the tool selection switch has selected single sided spot welding. Depressing the switch allows you to select between the following accessories:
    1. Nails, washers and stars for dent pulling and small trim rivites
    2. 4mm studs
    3. 5mm and 6mm threaded studs and large trim rivets
    4. Single sided spot welding
    5. Shrinking
    6. Stitch Welding
  8. Panel Thickness Selector - select the thickness of the panel and the Versa Spot 7000 does the rest
  9. Spot Welding Time - allows you to "fine tune" the spot welding time
