Striker Variable
A step up from the Striker, the Striker Variable gives you a larger viewing area
- 1 7/8" x 3 3/4" (more than 7 sq. in.)! It also features an adjustable dark state.
When the helmet darkens you can adjust the shade it goes dark to from 9 to 12. So if you
are welding sheet metal at 25 amps, you might want a dark shade of 9. If you are blasting 1/2"
steel together at 240 amps, you might want a dark shade of 12.
The Striker Variable also features adjustable sensitivity. This takes into account the surrounding lighting and is an important feature. For example, if you are welding in bright sunlight, you adjust the sensitivity so the sun doesn't darken the lens, only the welding arc. An adjustable opening delay allows you to control the amount of time it takes for the helmet to go back to the light state after you have stopped welding. The best application I can think of for this is stitch welding: set the opening delay to the maximum setting so the lens stays dark while the welder is automatically welding and pausing. The Striker Variable also has separate on and off buttons. When you are finished welding, you can turn the lens off, but if you forget, the lens will shut itself off automatically after it has not sensed an arc for 15 minutes. The Striker Variable will allow you to do a wide variety of welding jobs with a wide variety of welders.
